How to distinguish cat ear mites from earwax?

How to distinguish cat ear mites from earwax?

Some people think that a cat‘s ears are dirty because they have ear mites. In fact, the dirty cat’s ears are not necessarily ear mites, but should be distinguished according to the dirt characteristics in the cat’s ears. Let’s take a look at the difference between cat ear mites and earwax, and how to treat cat ear mites.

1、 What is cat ear mite?

Cat ear mite is a kind of ear scabies, which is a common ear canal parasite of cats and dogs. Most of them are parasitic in the ear canal, and a few of them also appear in the head, neck and tail. When a cat is infected with ear mites, a large number of reddish brown or dark brown ear canal secretions will appear in the ears. At the same time, when you get close to the cat’s ears, you will smell a foul smell; But the cat ear mite is a small, white insect, but it is invisible to our naked eyes and needs to be observed through an otoscope.

2、 How to distinguish cat ear mites from earwax?

Earwax is a bit like soil. When you roll it with your fingers, you will find that it is delicate.

The cat ear mite sticks to the cat’s ear canal in irregular pieces. When we rub it with our fingers, we will find that its touch is rough. And there will be reddish brown or dark brown secretions in the cat’s ear canal, which is the difference between earwax and cat ear mites.

3、 How to treat cat ear mite?

On the issue of “how to treat cat ear mites”, I really have a say, because I often rescue stray cats, many of them have ear mites, so I have rich experience in treatment, and the cost is relatively low, and the effect is fast.

Products used for treatment: Ear Wash, Erkang, clean cotton tablets, Boleyn

  •  In order to better absorb the ear medicine, you need to clean the cat’s ear canal first. Note that instead of washing it with water, you should use special ear washing water. I don’t recommend the brand, as long as it is mild and not irritating. Fill the cat’s ear with ear washing water, then cover the cat’s ear, rub the root of the ear for 1-2 minutes, release the cat, it will shake its head by itself to throw out the excess liquid in the ear canal, and finally dry the ear canal with a clean cotton piece!
  • Drop an appropriate amount of Erkang into the cat’s ear, which is similar to the steps of cleaning the ear, but pay attention not to pour so much ear medicine, just an appropriate amount, and finally don’t wipe it off with cotton pads. Massage the ear to allow the medicine to be fully absorbed.
  • Cat ear mites with mild symptoms can be cured by taking the medicine once a day for 10 consecutive days. However, in order to prevent recurrence of subsequent diseases, you can take the medicine for a few more days to consolidate it!
  • It is very important to conduct systemic deworming for cats, which is also the key to prevent cat ear mites from recurring. There are many cats in my family, and it’s troublesome to drive them separately inside and outside, so I use Brayne’s four effect compound formula. It has a complete spectrum of insect repellents, such as common ear itch mites, ear scabies mites, fleas, ticks, lice, Ascaris lumbricoides, tapeworm, hookworm and other parasites. It can kill them without matching other cat insect repellents. One can cure common parasites. The usage is also very simple. Just remove the hair on the cat’s shoulder and neck and drop the medicine on the skin.

Have you learned how to treat cat ear mites? If you still don’t understand anything, you can leave a message to me, and I will know everything! Finally, I hope all cats can grow up healthily!
