Why Do dogs die from eating chocolate?

Labradoodles: Everything You Need to Know

If a dog eats chocolate, it can cause vomiting, diarrhea, wallowing and, in severe cases, death.

So do not give the dog to eat chocolate, if the dog accidentally eat a little, try to take the dog to the hospital in time.

Why Do dogs die from eating chocolate?

1. Why can’t dogs eat chocolate?

Chocolate contains a lot of theobromine.

Chocolate is a food made from cocoa beans or cocoa butter, so it contains a lot of theobromine and caffeine.

In humans, chocolate consumption has many beneficial functions.

Theobromine and caffeine have many beneficial and healthy effects, such as improving memory, relieving fatigue, and improving mood.

Chocolate also slows the aging process and reduces cardiovascular disease by controlling cholesterol levels.

But theobromine and caffeine can be particularly damaging to dogs.

For dogs, small amounts of theobromine can be fatal because dogs cannot digest theobromine, sugar and other substances, and their digestive system cannot metabolize the substances in their bodies. As the amount of harmful substances accumulates in their bodies, it can cause irreversible serious damage to dogs.

In some cases, it can cause vomiting and diarrhea. In others, it can directly damage the dog’s heart and nervous system, resulting in dog death.

2. What happens when your dog eats chocolate?

If your dog accidentally eats just the slightest bit of chocolate, your dog may start vomiting and diarrhea due to digestive problems.

If a dog eats a little more chocolate, its muscles will twitch, just like a human’s.

The dog will writhe on the ground in pain.

If your dog eats too much chocolate, the theobromine in the chocolate can wreak havoc on his heart and even affect his nervous system, and he may eventually leave you.

3. What should your dog do if it accidentally eats chocolate?

If our beloved dog accidentally eats chocolate, we first need to determine how serious the dog’s symptoms are.

Because the larger the dog, the more tolerant it is to theobromine, for example, a large dog that licks a small piece of chocolate may be completely fine, but a small dog that licks a small piece of chocolate may have vomiting and diarrhea.

So you can’t just rely on how much the dog eats to judge whether it’s serious or not, but should be based on the dog’s reaction after eating.

If the dog just vomits and has diarrhea, it’s a sign that it’s not too serious until the dog throws it all up.

If your dog has convulsions, send it to the pet hospital for treatment.

Chocolate is poison to dogs, so don’t try to give it to your dog.
