What to do if the cat has skin disease

What to do if the cat has skin disease

What to do if a cat has skin disease Yes, but no matter what, it is also a problem that we need to pay attention to. Timely prevention and treatment of cat skin diseases can better ensure the healthy growth of cats.

1.What are the common types of skin diseases in cats?

  • Bacterial skin diseases: mainly bacterial infections, relatively easy to treat
  • Fungal skin disease: caused by skin fungal infection; skin fungus survives for a long time in nature, has strong resistance, and can survive for more than 1 year in a dry environment. There are also some fungi that have an affinity for soil and can grow and reproduce in soil and survive for a long time. Fungal skin diseases are the most difficult to treat and are highly contagious to humans.
  • External parasitic skin diseases: caused by fleas, scabies mites, demodex mites, ear mites, lice, ticks, etc., single parasites are easy to remove, but if they are more serious and accompanied by other symptoms, treatment is more difficult. big.
  • Metabolic skin diseases: hormonal skin diseases, allergic skin diseases, which occur less frequently.
  • Immune abnormal skin diseases: skin diseases related to nutrition, etc., lack of nutrition can also easily cause cats to lose hair.

2.The treatment of cat skin diseases

Different types of skin diseases have different treatment methods. For skin diseases caused by bacteria, fungi or parasites, the treatment methods are nothing more than medicated baths, sprays, disinfection, collars, sun exposure, etc.; but for nutritious skin In terms of disease, the treatment is to strengthen nutrition, such as supplementing B vitamins. No matter which kind of skin disease, the symptoms are similar, and after the cat’s skin defense system goes wrong, it is easy to have mixed infection. The symptoms we can see may not be caused by a skin disease, and they are infected with 2~3 kinds of skin diseases at the same time. Fungus is not impossible. Therefore, when a cat has a skin disease, we must take the cat to a regular pet hospital as soon as possible to identify which skin disease the cat is suffering from, so that we can treat it quickly. If you want to properly treat cat skin diseases, you should first identify whether the cat’s skin disease is a mite type or a fungal type. Therefore, parents need to take the cat to a regular pet hospital for testing, and then determine the type of skin and liver disease and then treat and prescribe the right medicine. The general treatment method is to cut the hair of the affected area first, then inject and apply external medicine. At the same time, Ketokang tablets and griseofulvin tablets can be taken orally. In addition, during the period of taking the medicine, it is best to supplement vitamins, feed more fatty foods, and do not feed alkaline foods such as cat milk.

3.How to prevent skin diseases in cats

  • Before the rainy season comes, give the cat a bath and must dry it.
  • All cats live in south-facing rooms, and there is a fixed time every day for them to exercise in the yard and bask in the sun. The ultraviolet rays in the sun sterilize.
  • The cat litter box and cat litter box that cats use daily have time to be exposed to the sun frequently.
  • If it is rainy and cloudy and there is no sunshine, you can buy a reptile pet lamp with UV light and hang it in the cat room, and find a lamp that is specially treated without harm to the eyes of animals.
  • Feed them nutritional creams regularly to increase the vitamins in their bodies and boost their immunity.
  • After the kitten is born, wash the mucus from the body with warm water, dry it with a hair dryer, and put it back to the mother cat. This method can greatly reduce the chance of the kitten getting milk moss.

4. Cat utensils should be disinfected regularly

The cat litter, table utensils and bedpans should be cleaned frequently and disinfected regularly, which can not only ensure cleanliness, but also prevent skin diseases. All the litter in the cat litter should be replaced frequently, the cat litter should be dried in the sun, and the ultraviolet rays in the sun should be used to achieve the purpose of sterilization and disinfection, so as to prevent the reproduction of microorganisms and the growth of external parasites. Environmental disinfection drugs can be used for regular disinfection. The skin of cats is relatively sensitive, and it is not suitable to use irritating disinfectants. 0.1% peracetic acid spray can be used to disinfect the cat litter and its surrounding environment and utensils. In addition, you can use 0.1% Xinjieer sterilizing solution to soak tableware and bedpans, or soak and wash with 3% to 4% hot alkaline water, and then rinse with water before use. Around the cat litter can withdraw some less irritating, low toxicity powder drugs, such as Baiduling to prevent external parasites. If the bedpan smells bad, get rid of it with a deodorant. Cat skin disease is not only related to the environment, but also has a lot to do with the cat’s own resistance. When the cat’s resistance is low, it is easy to suffer from skin disease, and it is difficult to cure, so the owner should strengthen the cat’s nutrition at ordinary times. Add some vitamins and other trace elements to ensure the cat’s health.
