Brushing is often used to remove loose hair and keep the skin clean, reducing the chance of skin and parasitic diseases. And evenly distribute the oil attached to the hair, making the fur look more supple and shiny. For long-haired or double-haired dogs, grooming can remove dead hair from underneath and stimulate new hair growth. And it makes it easier for the shampoo to penetrate the surface of the skin when taking a shower.
Depending on the type of dog’s coat, the number of times of brushing per week varies. Brush twice a week for short, smooth hair and daily for long, smooth hair. Those in between these two hair types can be brushed 3-5 times a week as needed.
The type of brush your dog should use depends largely on your dog’s coat type.
Flat brush, this brush is suitable for dogs with long, smooth hair, such as the Yorkshire Terrier. The tips of the bristles of this brush are rounded, making it less prone to injuring the skin.
Combs can be divided into fine-toothed combs, medium-toothed combs, and wide-toothed combs. A fine-toothed comb is suitable for soft, thin silky hair. A medium-tooth comb is used for combing normal fur. A wide-tooth comb is suitable for combing thick, coarse hair.
A flea comb is a special fine-toothed comb usually used to remove parasites from the hair. And this comb also works as a very useful special fine-toothed facial comb for removing food debris from the hair around the eyes.
