What is treeing walker coonhound?

treeing walker coonhound, native to the United States, originated in the 19th century. The ancestry of the breed comes from the English Foxhound. In 1742 and 1770, the state of Vikinia imported two batches of foxhounds from England, which became the basis for the development of the breed. The main breeders of today’s varieties are George Washington Macbin and W. Walker of Kentucky, USA. The hybrid breeding in the 19th century had a profound impact on the development of the variety.

Smaller in size and faster than similar hounds, the tricolor is the most popular, and there are also two colors in the same breed. The white-brown Catch Tree Walker Coonhound is generally not called “red” to avoid confusion with the Redbonne Coonhound. The occiput of the head is more prominent, and the skull is broad and full. The proportions of the head and body are harmonious. The ears are of medium length and set low. Softly drooping, the inside of the ear is slightly turned towards the muzzle. The tip of the ear is not very pointed, generally round or oval. It feels velvety soft to the touch. Shakes slightly and forms small rolls when the head is raised. In good proportion to the body and head. The eyes are prominent and beautiful on the face. The eyes are tender and affectionate when opened. The color is generally very dark, usually black or brown. The kiss is long and square, with a slightly tapered tip, and a slightly drooping upper lip complements a straight face, but not stiff or fancy. Nose color is generally black, but other colors sometimes appear. Some are large, but not obnoxious because they are slightly slanted, they stand out. The upper and lower jaws are not prominent. The neck is strong, but not full. Moderate length. There is no excessive layered skin under the neck, but there are inconspicuous wrinkles under the chin. The shoulders are sloping, strong and muscular, but not muscular. Demonstrates resilience, dynamism and strength. The chest is long because of its large lung capacity, not very wide. Ribs are elastic. The back is slightly long, strong and muscular. The waist is broad and arched. The forelegs are straight, with moderate bone weight. The toes are firm and close, somewhat cat-like. Arched toes and hard nails favor acceleration. The buttocks and hind thighs are strong, muscular and powerful. The tail is set high and of moderate length. Shaped like a saber. Gracefully bends upwards and forwards. The fur is smooth, shiny, dense and warm enough. The most popular colors are the tricolor dogs: white-black-brown. White is the main color, interspersed with black spots and browns. Or black as the predominant color, with white markings and brown accents. Of course, white with brown spots or black spots is also acceptable.
treeing walker coonhound living habits

Coonhounds are effective at catching raccoons, squirrels, and some animals that play dead. They still retain the appearance of their ancestor, the English Foxhound. In fact, the Bush Coonhound sometimes has to climb trees to catch prey. However, with a little training, they will use their distinctive bark to tell hunters that their prey is desperate. Dogs of this breed are also bred for strenuous physical activity. Although they are a docile companion, they are not suitable for living in the city. Robust and agile, self-confident and tenacious, the hunting desire is relatively strong. Its intelligence and docility make it a lovely companion dog too.
