What is kai ken? what does kai ken look like?

What is kai ken?

Kai ken is an animal belonging to the canine family. An ancient Japanese breed, bred as a hunting dog on Honshu Island, Japan. The name comes from Yamanashi Prefecture (ancient kai ken) in central Japan. Puppies are usually pure black at birth, and their distinctive markings will appear when they grow up. The brindle pattern is one of the characteristics of this dog. Resolute, independent, agile, ferocious but lifelong loyal to their masters, they do not allow anyone but their masters to approach them.

Muscular, brave and agile, they are considered natural hunters and trusted guardians of the family. The head is wedge-shaped of medium length, broad between the ears and gradually narrowing towards the muzzle. Skull broad, nearly flat, with middle groove; cheeks well developed. The length of the snout is approximately equal to the length of the skull, the top of the skull is parallel to the snout when viewed from the side, and the thickness is medium. The eyes are full and the bridge of the nose is straight. The jaw is strong but not protruding, the lips are black and closed tightly. Scissor bite, horizontal bite is also acceptable. The nose is generally pure black, not protruding from the muzzle. The eyes are relatively small, black-brown, with a black edge, slightly triangular, but rounder than the Akita. The ears are rigid, relatively large compared to the head, triangular, with the base of the ear lying on the outside of the skull and not too low. The neck is of medium length and well muscled. The chest is deep and broad. Topline slopes down from withers and then becomes level; back muscles are well developed, loin muscles strong and short. Ribs moderately dilated. The forelegs are straight, well muscled and well boned; the upper arms are close to the ribs but still flexible. The hind legs are heavy, muscular and very powerful. Feet of medium length, round; pads thick; toenails strong, black. Tail with a high heel, a sickle-shaped tail is ideal, and a curl on the back is acceptable.
