Pet euthanasia, dog suffering from incurable disease

What is english shepherd? what does english shepherd look like?

Pet euthanasia, some people may wonder whether pets need to be euthanized too, why should pets be euthanized, and what are the reasons for this? So is it really necessary to euthanize pets? The following is a detailed introduction to the related issues of pet euthanasia.

Why euthanize pets?

  1. Euthanize dogs for a long time because dogs suffer from diseases that are difficult to cure and will not die immediately. The disease caused by the dog causes the dog to bear the incomparable pain, such as being unable to eat, sleep well, paralyzed on the ground, and groaning in pain. For example, the dog’s trauma caused severe paralysis of the limbs and was in a critical state. Therefore, the owner could not bear to see the dog endure such pain and chose to euthanize it. There are also dogs with rabies, some dogs with canine distemper, etc., which may be euthanized for dogs.
  2. Some cats and dogs need to be euthanized because someone abandoned them at will and allowed them to breed freely. Later, because no one adopted them and the community could not bear too many stray cats and dogs, they were euthanized to solve the problem of stray animals. question. There are also a few such examples: I remember that there was such a thing in the sincere pet hospital, a beagle owner took him to the hospital and asked the doctor to euthanize the dog because his wife was pregnant and wanted to give birth to a child. Because dogs may carry Toxoplasma gondii, which can cause miscarriage in pregnant women, it is generally not allowed to keep pet cats and dogs at home during pregnancy.

How to Euthanize a Pet?

  1. Injection of potassium chloride: Rapid intravenous injection of 10% potassium chloride injection at 0.3 to 0.5 ml per kilogram of body weight will cause instantaneous hyperkalemia. High concentrations of potassium ions can cause conduction block of the heart and weakened contractility , and finally inhibit the myocardium, causing sudden cardiac arrest and death. This method only shows very short-term muscle rigidity and then floppy death.
  2. Oral sleeping pills: Oral sleeping pills make sick pets sleep, and then inject a central anesthetic with respiratory depression. The anesthetic here usually refers to some powerful sedative drugs that can cause suffocation. Injecting a powerful anesthetic suppresses the respiratory system of the sick pet, which eventually stops breathing and dies.
  3. Inject coagulant: first let the sick pet sleep with anesthesia, and then inject coagulant to block the vein. The mechanism of action of coagulants is mainly to act on the coagulation factors of blood proteins in the animal body, causing blood coagulation, forming thrombus, causing blood vessel obstruction, blocking blood flow, and causing the death of sick pets.

What is the public’s attitude towards pet euthanasia?

  1. Opposition attitude: Pets are also a life after all, and we have no right to deprive them of their lives! For some sick dogs and cats with disabilities, what the owner should do is to try his best to save his life instead of ending his life hastily. Even a dying patient can only help him continue his life as much as possible, how can he help him end his life early! The same is true for pets.
  2. Support attitude: Any creature has the right to live, but you have no way of knowing the choice of pets. Instead of seeing it in pain, it is better to let him end, and maybe it is also a relief! Relieving a pet from pain is the last love for a pet.
  3. Neutral attitude: It is irresponsible for life to euthanize pets hastily, and it is unbearable for us to let pets die in extreme pain. With a responsible attitude towards life, the choice of pet euthanasia should be cautious.
