What is dandie dinmont terrier?

The Dandie Dinmont Terrier, native to England, originated in the 17th century. One of the most quaint and chic pet dogs. Many pets are named after the place where they were raised or bred, but the Dandy Dingmont is named after the protagonist in the works of the famous author Sir Walder Scott. As early as the 1700s, the Dandie Dinmont terrier, bred on the border of Scotland and England, was known for its ability to hunt otters and badgers, making it a unique breed. It is believed to be the result of the cross between the Scottish Terrier and the Skye Terrier.

Shoulder height is about 8 to 11 inches. Body length is twice the height at the withers plus 1-2 inches. Under normal working conditions, this dog weighs about 18 to 24 pounds. The body is of solid structure, well-boned and muscular, but not rough. Overall balance is more important than a single feature. The skull is wider between the ears, tapering towards the eyes, the distance from the stop to the back of the head is equal to the distance between the ears. The forehead (eyebrows) is hemispherical with a well-defined stop. The cheeks are tapered, extending from the ears to the muzzle, in the same proportions as the tapering of the skull.
