What is bloodhound? What does bloodhound look like?

What is bloodhound?

Blood Hound, is a world-famous hunting dog, because this dog has an excellent sense of smell and can follow the blood of its prey, hence its name. “Ti” means orange-red. This dog is a world famous dog and is a noble hunting dog.

What does bloodhound look like?

1 The body is strong and powerful, with wrinkles on the skin of the head and neck.
2 The head is relatively narrow compared to the body. From the side view, the boundary between the forehead and the muzzle is not obvious.
3 Topline is long and level.
4 The forelegs are straight, with thick bones and strong muscles.
5 Loose skin.
6 Big nose, deep-set eyes, long ears, drooping ears.

The head of Xue Ti appears narrow from the front, broad from the side, the snout is short, the sides of the head appear flat, and the width of the entire head is roughly equal. The brow bone is not very prominent, but because the eyes are relatively deep, the brow bone is more prominent. The eyes are deeply set into the sockets and the eyelids are lozenge or diamond-shaped, resulting in an everted lower eyelid that droops like the upper lip. Eye color conforms to the usual shades, ranging from darker tan to yellow; but dark tan (hazel) is certainly preferred, although this shade of eye is rare in liver and tan dogs . The ears are thin and soft to the touch, extremely long, set very low, drooping and gracefully folded, with the lower half curled inward and back. The head has sagging skin, which appears redundant almost everywhere, but more so when he lowers his head; this sagging skin sags and forms wrinkles, especially on the forehead and sides of the face. The nostrils are large and open. The fat on the upper lip hangs down, and there is also loose skin on the neck, forming the fat on the throat, and it is very obvious
The neck is long, the shoulder blades are muscular and sloping back; the ribs are well supported; the chest is deep enough. The forelegs are straight and well-boned; the feet are strong; the thighs and second thighs are well muscled. The tail is long and slender, with a medium amount of hair on the underside, held high but not over the topline. Fur color is black, brown, red; or mixed with light or badger hair, sometimes mixed with white

bloodhounds living habits

The Bloodhound is docile and kind, with a wrinkled face, like an old man. This dog is quite gentle, kind, gets along well with humans, and is quite loyal to its owner. It can almost be said that this dog is the most docile of all dog breeds. It is somewhat timid by nature, and is equally sensitive to the kindness and reproach of its master. So if it doesn’t perform well during training, don’t blame it too harshly.

In recent years, the dog has often appeared in various media, and its melancholy eyes and shy personality can quite capture the pity in the audience’s heart. It is very affectionate and neither quarrels with its companions nor with other dogs. Usually quiet and submissive when indoors, loyal and kind when dealing with humans. When starting to track prey, no sound can be heard.

For obedience, the dog learns very quickly, teach it to like this type of work, and don’t force it if it is very repulsive, because it also has a bit of stubbornness.

bloodhound feeding

Calcium supplementation is quite necessary for dogs such as bloodhounds who have a high demand for large-scale exercise. Because calcium will be slowly lost in the process of normal exercise, so you can appropriately add some calcium powder or calcium tablets when feeding every day so that calcium can be supplemented to a certain extent, thereby reducing the chance of bone problems.

The dog is more sensitive to the owner’s concerns and reproaches. During the training process, the tone should be kept as calm as possible, and the tone of concern should be the main one, so that it may perform better.

Although Bloodhounds are quiet and submissive indoors, give them space to exercise. He can get along well with other dogs too, so play with other dogs to get him plenty of activity and make him feel less alone.
